The Gospel and Postmodern Substitutes (Blog Series)

Friends and ministry partners,

As I shared in my last blog, I’m currently pursuing the publication of my book on the life and influence of J. Gresham Machen. Over the past few months, we I have had the opportunity to publish several scholarly articles on Machen, in honor of the upcoming 100th anniversary of Christianity and Liberalism (1923).

During the month of August, my editor, Laura Terrell, and I will be publishing a series of blogs entitled, “The Gospel and Postmodern Substitutes.” This is a play on words based upon Machen’s article, “The Gospel and Modern Substitutes.” The blog series will cover Machen’s efforts in combating the religion of Liberalism with historic Christianity, as compared with the broader Protestant Church’s efforts. Additionally, we will also explain how we, today’s Church, must continue this historic battle for the gospel in light of the broader Evangelical Church’s efforts against Progressivism.

Be sure to check back every week from August 9–30 for blogs on these topics. Your feedback and support will help shape this work and directly inform the final chapter in my book on Machen. The book is newly titled The Life I Now Live: Continuing Machen’s Historic Battle for the Gospel.

For Christ and his kingdom,

Rich
